Foundation programme requirementsThe School of Social Sciences doesn't offer a foundation programme for international students, however the University of Manchester does validate the INTO Manchester, International Foundation Programme and guarantees a conditional offer to applicants who complete this programme. Some of the UK-based foundation programmes accepted by the School are listed below, together with the minimum requirements we ask of students taking them. The list is by no means exhaustive and applicants should contact the Undergraduate Admissions Office directly at baecon@manchester.ac.uk for advice on programmes not included in the list.

Abbey College, Malvern (International Foundation Programme - Business and Law) - 70% overall. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

Bellerbys College (Foundation Programme) - 70% overall with no less than 65% in any subject. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

Bosworth College (University Foundation Programme) - Pass with 'Special Award of Distinction'. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

Bridge House College, Nigeria (University Foundation Programme) - Grades AAB/ABB in Major Modules, depending upon the degree course applied for. Minimum grade C in IGCSE Mathematics and English (First Language) - if not taken as part of the foundation programme.

Cambridge Seminars (University Foundation Programme) - AABB. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

Cardiff University (International Foundation Programme) - Two/One distinction(s), remainder Merits, depending upon the degree course applied for. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

CATS - Canterbury and Cambridge - AAB/ABB depending upon degree course applied for. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

David Game College (University Foundation Programme) - AAB/ABB in both major and minor modules, depending upon the degree course applied for. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

Durham University - 70% overall, with no lower than 65% in English.

University of Exeter INTO (Foundation Certificate) - 70/65% overall with no lower than 65/60% in any subject, depending upon the degree course applied for. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

Kings School, Oxford (Higher Education Foundation Programme) - 70% in two/one main unit(s), depending upon the course applied for, with no lower than 65% in remaining subjects. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

Kuala Lumpur University College (Foundation in Business) - AAABB over three semesters. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

University of Leeds (International Foundation Year) - 70/65% overall depending upon the degree course applied for. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

Liverpool International College at the University of Liverpool - 70/65% overall with no lower than 65/60% in any subject, depending upon the degree course applied for. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

INTO Manchester (International Foundation Programme) - Grades AABB-BBBB, depending upon the degree course applied for.

Newcastle University INTO (International Foundation Programme) - 70/65% overall, depending upon the degree course applied for, with no lower than 65% in English.

Oxford Brookes University (International Foundation Diploma) - Achieve three A grades and remainder B's from nine modules. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

Queen Mary, University of London (International Foundation Course) - Access Pass with Merit and no lower than 65% in any subject.

University of Reading (International Foundation Programme) - Grade I in Economics, Mathematics and English. Grade II in Academic Skills.

Royal Holloway, University of London (University Foundation Programme) - Two distinctions, remainder merits. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London (Intermediate Certificate Course in Comparative International Studies) - minimum of 60% in compulsory units and a minimum of 70% in optional units.

University of Salford (International Foundation Year) - AA in Mathematics and Economics. No lower than 50% in English.

Sheffield International College at the University of Sheffield (Certificate in University Foundation Studies - Buisness, Law and Social Sciences) - 70/65% overall with no lower than 65/60% in any subject, depending upon the degree course applied for. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

St. Andrew's College, Cambridge (Foundation Year) - 70% in all components. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

St. Clares, Oxford (University Foundation Course) - Achieve A, A-, A-. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

St. Michaels College, Tenbury Wells (Foundation Programme) - Three/Two subjects at grade A, with grade B in remaining subjects, depending upon the degree course applied for. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

UCL (University Preparatory Certificate for the Humanities) - 70% overall with no lower than 65% in any subject. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.

University of Warwick (Higher Education Foundation Programme) - Two/One distinction(s), depending upon the degree course applied for, remainder credits.

York College (International Foundation Programme) - Pass all Level 2 subjects at grade B and at least four/two subjects at grade A in Level 3 modules, depending upon the degree course applied for, with no lower than grade B in any subject. IELTS 6.5 overall, with no lower than 6 in any component.
